Cyprus profile on entrepreneurship is based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2017/2018 study, the leading study of entrepreneurship worldwide. Each year GEM Global Report is published and is constructed from input received by countries that belong to this non-for-profit research consortium. The information gathered allows an in-depth understanding and comparison of the existing entrepreneurial ecosystems at the country, regional and global level.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Cyprus has taken up the lead role in the National Team of GEM for Cyprus since 2016. The first National Report for Cyprus was published last spring and the second one is anticipated to come out within the next two months. GEM reports are expected to become a valuable guide to improve national structures in relation to entrepreneurship.
